DEIDRE GILBERT, PharmD, Director of Pharmacy at CA Dean Hospital for nearly eight years, recently accepted the new role of Regional Director of Pharmacy for Northern Light Mayo and CA Dean Hospitals. Under Deidre’s leadership our two hospital pharmacies will collaborate more closely for the benefit of our patients. INTRODUCING OUR NEW REGIONAL DIRECTOR OF PHARMACY

Each morning, clinical leaders at CA Dean determine how many open beds will be available for Mayo Hospital patients. The information is communicated to the Mayo Hospital ED, and patients who could benefit from a transfer are offered the opportunity to go to CA Dean. Patients are transferred by ambulance, accompanied by skilled emergency medical technicians and paramedics for the 40-minute ride. Patients can expect to receive the same high-quality care at either location because the hospitals have many of the same capabilities and the staff have similar training. “Many other Maine hospitals are experiencing similar capacity constraints right now,” adds Dr. McDermott.
