Specialized care for our youngest patients

If you’re a parent or know someone who is, you know that raising an infant is completely life changing. Now, imagine having to travel a long distance to get specialized healthcare for baby during those busy first few weeks. Fortunately, thanks to an expansion of pediatric occupational therapy services at Northern Light Health Center—Sangerville, new parents can access even more advanced care for infants close to home. Bryanne (Bry) Lovell, MSOTR/L, an

occupational therapist at the Sangerville clinic, recently began providing care for torticollis, a twisted or rotated neck condition that causes the head to tilt down or to one side. Infants affected by torticollis usually acquire the condition at or shortly after birth. “Infants with torticollis often cannot turn their head to interact with their environment, and the result can be developmental delays. If left untreated, torticollis can cause lasting cognitive issues, weakness, and balance problems. That’s why it’s important to begin treatment right away.”
