New Birthing Center Expands Access in Ellsworth

I n January 2023, Northern Light Maine Coast Hospital fulfilled a dream, opening our new birthing center that is spacious and comfortable for both patients and staff. The Dixon Family Birthing Center was specially designed to meet the needs of birthing parents and families, enabling labor, delivery, and postpartum care to occur all in the same private room. The new birthing center also opened up the opportunity to expand and redesign our medical-surgical unit, creating a quiet environment with mostly private patient rooms to truly promote healing.
