Northern Light AR Gould Hospital is a nonprofit, community-led hospital in Presque Isle that’s served Aroostook County since 1912. We’re a healthcare provider and major employer. Our staff and providers volunteer their time to make our communities better places to live. Our purpose is to provide high quality clinical care and exceptional service with an emphasis on patient safety and achieving great outcomes. Northern Light AR Gould Hospital is governed by a volunteer board of trustees who live and work in our communities.

Areas of excellence Advanced cancer care , including medical and radiation oncology. AR Gould is the only provider of radiation oncology in the region. Cardiovascular care services , including specialized diagnostic services and cardiac rehabilitation. Dialysis for patients who have reduced kidney function. AR Gould is the only provider of dialysis services in the region and the only nonprofit outpatient dialysis provider in Maine. Emergency department staffed by physicians 24/7. Inpatient care , including Acute Rehabilitation, Women & Children’s, Medical/Surgical, and Specialty Intensive Care. Orthopedic care provided by a comprehensive team of orthopedic surgeons and a surgical podiatrist. Sleep medicine services , including a sleep lab. Primary care at Northern Light Health Centers in Caribou, Fort Fairfield, and Presque Isle. Women’s health services , including obstetrics/ gynecology, comprehensive breast care, and a primary care practice dedicated just to women.
